Brrrr. It’s cold outside. Due to extreme cold temperatures across the region, as a precautionary measure, TVA is asking customers of UCEMC and its other distributors to reduce electrical usage as much as possible safely. Let’s do our part to help TVA fulfill everyone’s energy usage. Stay warm and stay safe!

• Lower your thermostat to 68 degrees or a temperature that is both comfortable and safe.
• Weatherstrip leaky doors and windows. Sealing air leaks saves money on power bills.
• Lower your water heater temperature to 120 degrees.
• Delay laundry or running your dishwasher until the warmest part of the day.
• Install a programmable thermostat so you can adjust the temperature when you are not home.
• Replace incandescent lights with more energy-efficient LED bulbs.
• Unplug devices when not in use.
• Turn off everything when you leave the room.
• Set your ceiling fan to spin clockwise, which pushes warm air down.
