Thinking about installing solar at your home?
We’re helping members go solar every day. Homeowners and businesses can use UCEMC and TVA’s renewable expertise and programs to generate, install and claim solar energy. With any rapidly growing and evolving industry, there is a lot of information and misinformation. If you are interested in installing solar, let UCEMC and TVA use our resources to help you make the best informed decision. Visit www.tvagreenconnect.com or contact UCEMC’s Member Service Advisor, Larry Fleming, at 615-281-8814.
There’s a few things you’ll want to know before installing solar in the UCEMC service area. UCEMC’s Solar Installation Procedures makes it easy for you to navigate the process.
- Complete the application for Interconnection of Distributed Generation, return a one-line diagram and solar specifications to UCEMC for approval. Please send application to: Larry Fleming, Member Services Advisor at lfleming@ucemc.com.
- Installation and work can begin after the application is approved by UCEMC. Upon approval, the Interconnection and Parallel Agreement will be sent to the homeowner to review, sign, and return to UCEMC. Once approved, a representative of UCEMC will let the solar installer/ homeowner know they may begin installation.
- Member’s equipment must be installed by a certified contractor of the North American Board of Certified Practitioners (NABCEP). Connect with TVA approved contractors who have been trained and approved by TVA and UCEMC at www.tvagreenconnect.com.
- The installing electrician/homeowner must obtain all state permits. Electricians should contact the state electrical inspector prior to installation. Electricians must contact the local UCEMC office to have any meter disconnected or removed.
- Once the State Electrical Inspector passes your solar installation and UCEMC receives a copy of the inspection, an invoice for the commissioning will be sent to the homeowner/installer. The invoice must be paid before UCEMC schedules commissioning.
Want to Sell Your Excess Power?
The TVA Dispersed Power Production Program allows companies or residential customers to produce renewable energy such as solar, or co-generate green energy such as biomass, and sell all or excess generation back to TVA at TVA’s avoided cost.
